well the ship they used for the HMS Interceptor in Pirates of the Caribbean is a real ship…not old of course, but built of wood and based on a ship from 1750’s or so, called the Lady Washington….I’m hoping to crew on her soon!

I know, but if you wanna make a big trip with a tall ship, and you wanna make a save trip, I think you better have 30 mens on your ship, 3-masted ofcourse! :)

you only need 15 to opereate a tallship, but it depends on what tall ship we are talking about ^^

But ships like in Pirates of the Caribbean, will never be made again, something like them will be, with motor and modern navigation systems! :)

    You can’t ‘just’ buy it,
only a country, or a sail school, or some of those big organisations can order them. If you wanna sail a tall ship, you need at least 30 mens. If you really wanna do it, than you must go to a sail school, who are organising trips from 3-6-12 months, if you do it, i swear mate.. Those are the best times of your life, i can know it!

one of the greatest adventures you can take in this world, beautiful. I would just love not to sail the new great sailing ships, but those from pirates of the carribean. Anyone know if such are still built?

There really is nothing quite like sailing on these ships. I trained on the Kalmar Nyckle and loved all of it. Best of luck to all who want to sail and or want to.

Denbobembo – you can pick up the latest copy of the book “Sail Tall Ships! ” published by the American Sail Training Association (ASTA). It is a guide to tall ships all over the world. In that book you will find ample opportunities for tall ship sail training and adventures.

    Good luck and happy sailing!

just seen your message. I’m thinking of going on one of these ships. I’m not sure if i can do it this year now but am looking on the web-site of the tall-shps trust for next years events. I”m looking for first hand info as i’m definately not in my youth. Never done anything like this before. I would probablynot be going with anyone i know, Would that be a problem, or would it be an ideal situ? Let me know how your trip went!! Have fun!

7:33 the binnacle…when getting ready for rough weather, batten down the hatches and secure the binnacle.

Lovely pictures of the beautiful Asgard II. Seen her out on the water and in port a few times.
She and so many other tall ships are out there. Take the plunge. It really will change your life.
